siamo Lester (Lester Greenowski), Casey (The Brokendolls) e Frank (Perfect View).

All’inizio del 2019 i KISS hanno intrapreso il loro “End Of The Road Tour”, da subito per noi é stato naturale cercare una maniera per rendere omaggio a quella che probabilmente é la nostra band preferita. Assieme é nata l’idea di raccogliere più band unite dalla nostra stessa passione per realizzare la compilation tributo ai KISS con il maggior numero di partecipanti mai pubblicata.

Nel frattempo, a giugno 2019, é venuto a mancare Alex Ruffini, celebre fotografo di concerti, scatenato fan della band newyorchese, ma soprattutto carissimo amico. Alex ha perso la sua battaglia contro il cancro, durante gli ultimi mesi della sua vita Alex ha fondato un’associazione benefica “Cancer Drugs and Rock & Roll” con la quale, attraverso mostre ed eventi da lui organizzati, raccoglieva fondi da donare alla ricerca contro tutti i tipi di cancro. ‪http://www.cancerdrugsandrockandroll.org‬

L’associazione oggi continua a portare avanti la volontà di Alex e per noi é stato naturale pensare immediatamente di destinare tutti i proventi della compilation direttamente all’ associazione. Abbiamo intitolato il progetto “We Keep On Shoutin’ - Not Your Average KISS Tribute” prendendo spunto da una frase contenuta nel testo della celebre “Rock And Roll All Nite”.

Nonostante l’emergenza Covid-19 abbiamo continuato a lavorare sul progetto a tempo pieno e siamo molto soddisfatti del materiale arrivato. Ottime performance, grande creativita’ nel rivisitare i celebri brani della band, insomma uno splendido lavoro dall’ afflato internazionale.

Non possiamo non ringraziare chiunque abbia donato il proprio brano, abbia dato il suo tempo, il suo lavoro, il suo contributo. Vorremmo inoltre ricordare il contributo fondamentale dei Real Sound Studio di Milano nella persona di Ettore Gilardoni per la normalizzazione dei volumi dell’ intero progetto, Nikrooz Hosseini di Nick's Audio Services, Matt di Hipe Design Art Graphics per la parte video. Ringraziamo inoltre tutto lo Staff di CD&RR per averci dato la possibilità di ricordare Alex nel modo migliore, attraverso la musica dei suoi adorati KISS.

ALEX RUFFINI - Nato a Venezia il 22.12.1968, già a 14 anni si appassiona alla fotografia.Nel corso degli anni, svilupperà e affinerà il suo stile, trasformando uno dei suoi più grandi hobby nella sua vera e propria attività lavorativa, che lo porterà a viaggiare in giro per il mondo, permettendogli di accostarsi e fotografare i grandi artisti rock internazionali, che si affezioneranno a lui e che col tempo diverranno suoi carissimi amici.

Predilige la musica rock, di cui è approfondito conoscitore sin dall’adolescenza e fra tutti gli artisti, quelli che lui maggiormente venera e che più lo affascinano, - per il connubio musica e spettacolo -, sono i KISS, che diverranno storia assoluta nelle sue foto.

Sarà’ riconosciuto a livello mondiale come il fotografo delle rock star, colui che immortale e ferma l’attimo. Sono oltre 7.300 i suoi scatti e ben 130 le cover.

Nell’autunno del 2017 gli viene diagnosticato un tumore al pancreas e dopo la prima fase di smarrimento, nonostante la devastante “chemio dance”, decide di esorcizzare la malattia a ritmo di rock, tramutando la sua sofferenza in una missione: donare il suo tempo e la sua arte per poter aiutare altre persone che soffrono dello stesso male. Così nell’autunno del 2018, nasce l’idea di “Cancer Drugs & Rock’nRoll”.

Insieme al fratello Martino organizza le prime mostre e i primi eventi a scopo benefico: Polveriera Francese, The Room, Essemusic, Kiss Days, Gasoline, Fiera Campionaria.

Moltissimi sono i grandi artisti, gli amici e i conoscenti, che testimoniano con la loro presenza e in modo tangibile la loro solidarietà. Ciò gli permette di fare alcune donazioni al “Progetto Convivio” dell’ospedale Borgo Roma a Verona. La morte non muore mai e purtroppo la sua battaglia si conclude il 18 giugno 2019. “Se dovete venire per piangere restatevene a casa e al mio funerale indossate una maglia dei Kiss”, queste le sue volontà.
